FAQs for employers

Below are some of the common question we're asked by employers. If you still need further support, please contact [email protected].

Why should I advertise my vacancy with IDPE?

By advertising with us, you will receive:

  • access to a specialist talent pool. Our platform attracts professionals who are passionate about schools' development and have the skills to make an impact. The vast majority of people reading your job advertisement, will be a potential candidate.
  • additional promotion. Every vacancy receives additional visibility through social media and in our weekly job bulletin, send to the IDPE community every Friday.
  • a £100 discount if you're an IDPE member.

What is an employer profile?

This is an optional service included in the cost of your job posting. By creating a profile, using the link at the top of the home page, you will create your own personal dashboard, through which you can manage current and future job postings, access historical data and create a detailed profile that jobseekers can access when viewing your vacancy.

I've posted a vacancy, but it's not showing on the job board?

All roles are reviewed by IDPE prior to going live and we aim to do this within one working day. If you need your vacancy to be published immediately, please contact us on 01225 829030 or at [email protected].

Do I have to be an IDPE member to post a vacancy?

No, although IDPE members will receive a £100 discount on all job postings. If you're a non-member and wish to advertise, please contact [email protected].

I'm a third party, can I post on behalf of a school?

Yes. Providing they're a member school you can post your vacancy via the job board and it will qualify for the member discount. If they are not a member, you can post your role by contacting [email protected].

Whether you select the charity or non-charity rate depends on who is paying the invoice. If you wish to pay the invoice on behalf of your client, and you are not a charity, then the non-charity rate applies. However, if the school is a charity, you can request that the invoice be sent to them and the price will be zero rated for VAT.

Why do you display both charity and non-charity rates?

This is purely a VAT issue. Job advertising in the UK is zero rated for VAT for charities, whereas it is applicable to non-charities.

How do I get a VAT invoice?

All job postings will receive a VAT invoice automatically. This will be issued by the IDPE team shortly after your order. This will happen automatically and you do not need to do anything.

Do you have any guidance on salary levels for development roles?

IDPE publishes an annual salary benchmarking paper which is available to all schools: Salary benchmarking for development offices 2021-2026

Do you have any examples of development team structures and overall salary expectations?

The IDPE benchmarking report provides an overview of staffing levels and expenditure for schools' development offices, which includes salary costs. The report also includes comparisons by sector, level of philanthropic income, and age of development office.
